Five Bulgarian nurses and one Palestinian doctor were held in Libya since 1999. They were sentenced to death after being convicted of deliberately infecting 438 children with the HIV virus. The sentence was then changed to life in prison. All six consistently pleaded innocence.

Nefesh B’Nefesh’s second chartered flight of the summer brought 200 new immigrants to Israel from the United States and Canada.
Nefesh B’Nefesh is an organization that assists North American and British Jews in fulfilling their dream of moving to Israel. This summer, a total of 2,200 people are expected to make the move on an El Al chartered flight organized by Nefesh B’Nefesh.

Tambour Hefer Ecology Ltd., a new power plant in Israel, has begun producing energy. The 2.4 megawatt plant is fueled on organic waste such as manure. Located in Hefer Valley, this plant is a joint venture between GES and Hefer Ecology.

Indian politicians, businessmen and manufacturing leaders are arriving in Israel in order to discuss future joint research and development ventures. They will also talk about the possibility of increasing trade between the two countries.
During the first course of the year there was $1.6 billion worth of trade between the two countries.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) plans to launch military satellites POLARIS and CARTOSAT-2A, designed by Israel, by the end of the year. These satellites have more capabilities than those currently used by India, including taking pictures through clouds and rain.
This launching is scheduled to coincide with the delivery of the country’s first Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft, also an Israeli product. Read more»

Romania will now start using a biometric identification system developed by Motorola Israel. It identifies and breaks down fingerprints and palm prints, including partial prints. It also scans facial identification and locates documents and files.
The system helps identify criminals by quickly searching for matches within information already existent in criminal files and databases.
The product which is called the Printak Biometric Identification Solution will be used by the investigative staff and the general police in Romania. It is also expected to be used by the Interior Ministry, the National Office for Refugees, the Border Police and the National Authority for Non-Citizens.
Serbia, Cyprus and Greece have also purchased this product.
