Wine critic Robert Parker rates Israeli wines as “World Class”

wine tastingRobert Parker, arguably one of the world’s most influential wine critics, thinks Israeli wine is pretty good. Parker recently completed his first tasting of Israeli wine, and gave 14 of the 90 wines a grade above 90 (out of 100). The grading system designed by Parker, categorizes a wine with an above 90 score as being “world class.” The top 6, and 11 of the 14 wines also happen to be Kosher, helping to dispel the myth that kosher wine equals sticky sweet ritual wine.

This accomplishment speaks volumes for the Israeli wine industry, especially considering that the move to produce premium wines is a recent development in the Israeli wine market. The expansion of Israeli wineries, and their use of new technologies means that hopefully we’ll continue to enjoy great (kosher) wines from Israel for a while (I’ll drink to that!).
