Israel natural resources include timber, potash, and sand

Did you know that sand is considered one of Israel natural resources? Israel’s list of natural resources according to the CIA Factbook is unimpressive, to say the least. The list includes timber, potash, copper ore, natural gas, phosphate rock, magnesium bromide, clays, and sand.

Sand?!

It’s as if they felt the list was too short and had to add something, anything - so they added sand and clay. Yup, the world is just clamoring for our clay.

I guess the one comfort is that Israel has been forced to look elsewhere for income, and as a result has developed a pretty impressive technology sector.

    That’s ridiculous.
Since when do we have timber? We have to plant stuff like crazy in order to have some shade in the summer. I guess nobody told the CIA that Israel is mostly desert.
And if they’re listing sand they might as well list “air” too…

Jerusalem Joe - You’re right! I didn’t even think of that when I read that they said timber is one of our resources. I guess they’re referring to the twig I saw thriving in the middle of the desert.

Air is valuable; we all need it.

Well, I suppose the sand + the tech sector go hand-in-hand. Though that would work better if we acctually made the chips as well.

What is the market price for sand and clay???? I’m looking for about 100 tonnes of very grainy sand.

Any Israel’s got any to sell me?
